About the Department

French was offered in Mar Ivanios College for Degree and Pre-Degree students from the 1960`s. Currently the Department takes classes in the French Language for the Post Graduate Program Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) in addition to teaching French as optional Second Language to all Under-Graduate batches. It also offers a Certificate Course in ‘Basic French Skills’. Some of the eminent faculty who have shaped the Department into a reputed teaching department include Prof. Karthy Nair, Rev. Fr. Joshua Chuttippara, Mr. Syed Ishaq Husaini, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Polycarpos (Auxiliary Bishop, Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum & Former Principal, Mar Ivanios College). The department functions under the guidance of experienced and knowledgeable faculty members. At present there are two faculty in the Department. The Department includes staff with the training in the Teaching of French as a foreign language from France.
