ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Mar Ivanios College became an Autonomous College in 2014 and the Department of Economics (Self-Financing) is one of the newest departments established in 2020. The Department currently offers a First Degree Programme in Analytical Economics. This is an innovative programme, the syllabus of which is structured in such a way as to make the students academically competent and skill equipped to appear for the Civil Services Examinations conducted by the UPSC. Additional training for Civil Services Examinations by experts in the field will also be arranged along with the programme. For those who wish to pursue their PG/Research in the field of Economics after this programme, additional skill courses in mathematical and statistical tools, basic Econometrics, and the data science modules for Economics will be added advantages. There shall be a mandatory complementary course in Political Science. For the second complementary course, students can choose either History or Mathematics.
