Mar Ivanios College was sanctioned the BVoc programme in Software Development by UGC in the year 2014. And along with this, the Department of Computer Science was established. BVoc (Software Development) was a highly innovative and skill-oriented programme and was designed and nurtured by a few dedicated faculty members. Dr. Georgee K. I., then Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce and later Principal of the College, and Rev. Fr. Shoji Varghese, Head of the Department of Tourism, offered invaluable contributions to the launching of the BVoc Programmes. Most of the students who graduated from the programme were campus placed in the IT industry. DDU KAUSHAL Kendra was established in the college in 2015 and the BVoc programmes were brought under the umbrella of the KAUSHAL Kendra. Four batches of students were trained in this programme and the BVoc programme ceased to exist under the UGC Scheme of DDU KAUSHAL Kendra with the 2017 admission batch (who graduated in 2020). In 2019, the BSc Computer Science programme started in the college under Self-financing mode and currently, this is the programme being offered by the Department of Computer Science. Ms Tinu Philip is the present Head of the Department. Dr K. L. Anandavally, former Vice-Principal and Head of the Department of Mathematics, at Mar Ivanios College, assists the Principal in the smooth and successful functioning of the department in her capacity as the Director of the Self-financing programmes in the college. The dedicated service of the faculty has raised the department over the years to high levels of excellence and success.
